even the “hood” people who swear that they hate white people, deep down, they still crave that exact lifestyle. the stable two parent household. the big clean house in a quiet suburb where the worst thing that happens is a mailbox getting knocked over. the huge highschool with its own football field, marching band, swim team, wrestling mats, actual funding, actual school spirit. the type of place where kids bike around at night with no fear because nothing bad ever happens there. everyone knows what that archetype is. the “american movie” hometown. the one with block parties, safe sidewalks, polite neighbors waving from their lawns, kids allowed to stay out late because the environment is safe. no chaos, no noise, no desperation. it’s not even about being “white.” it’s about wanting access to the lifestyle that white americans, statistically, were simply allowed to have more consistently. the structure. the safety. the social capital. the big well funded schools where everyone knows they’ll graduate and go off to college or something decent. the environment where you can actually be a kid instead of knowing the brutals of the world growing up. even the ones screaming the loudest about rejecting ‘whiteness’ still secretly fantasize about growing up in that environment. the upper middle template shaped by global media. not even out of racism, but out of wanting the privilege of peace, stability, and opportunity that their environment never gave them. what they actually want is the conditions, not the race. the race just happens to be associated with the conditions because of how america was built. that’s what people are longing for, not whiteness itself, but the safety and stability that whiteness, in the american system, was handed by default

there’s a reason why a lot of white women (white liberals in general) are comfortable supporting things like “open borders.” most of them grow up in isolated upper middle class areas, white dominated neighborhoods where none of the real consequences ever touch them. their schools stay good, white dominated, quiet neighborhoods, crime stays low, wages aren’t under pressure, and public services aren’t stretched. migration is an abstract moral concept to them, not something that changes their daily life. when you grow up in a polished suburb or a gentrified city pocket, it’s easy to take the moral high ground. you don’t share cramped apartments, overcrowded classrooms, sending your child to a poor low income beaner dominated small school or compete directly for the lowest wage jobs. you don’t deal with understaffed hospitals, packed buses, or landlords squeezing every dollar out of already poor tenants. so supporting “open borders” feels cost free, even virtuous. if those same people had grown up working class sharing a small apartment, going to underfunded schools, watching their parents’ wages stagnate, or seeing their neighborhood rapidly change with zero political voice, their views would probably harden fast. material conditions shape ideology more than people like to admit. it’s easy to be idealistic when you grow up priviliged, protected by money, location, and social capital. that’s why a lot of white liberal politics ends up being performative. it’s not that they’re evil or secretly malicious, it’s that they’re disconnected. they experience diversity and migration as a lifestyle aesthetic or a moral badge, not as a structural pressure. the costs are outsourced downward to poorer communities often working class whites and minorities while the benefits (cheap labor, moral validation, social status) flow upward.

white liberal ideology is born out of privilege and insulation. when you’re barely affected by what goes on, it’s easy to advocate policies that sound compassionate while never having to live with the downsides.

if you see any white people who are still “liberal” while living in the city, it’s usually because they’re not actually exposed in a real way. they almost always have a backup safety net. parents’ money, a childhood home in a clean white dominated suburb, or the option to leave the moment things go bad. the city is a temporary experience for them, not a trap.
