How would you raise a child?

Here's what I would do:
- read to them all the time, make sure they gain an interest in literature early on
- pay attention to what naturally interests them, even when they play with a toy, notice what they are doing
- go to church with them a lot (growing up religious boosts mental stability, regular church attendance makes you live longer)
- 'get those television sets out of the home'
- surround them with people, who smile a lot
- play classical music like Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, etc...
- allow them to express negative emotions, but don't feed into them, teach them to critically reflect their emotions
- most importantly: invest the maximum amount of time into them and put them first

I would do well. I think the biggest risk is me trying too hard to inure the kid to the indifference of nature end up killing it accidentally

I heard books are good or something but so far I've not seen any proof of that. I think it's mostly just selecting for verbal iq, curiosity, etc, and a lot of people read because they want to emulate that or they're indoctrinated by school and pbs

Alternative forms of data absorption exists, you could watch movies. So I would never force a kid to read if he has no natural inclination

The others are good. Not sure on church I think in a Jewish environment it could enslavement them

Books are more important than ever, cause they help you escape from a fast-moving world of distraction. It trains your mind. I argue that even if you read garbage or erotica like lots of women, you're still engaged in a more healthy activity than endless scrolling or television. And there is no person, who doesn't benefit from knowing how to read. Every person has a desire for knowledge or adventure of some form.

Regarding the churches, there are modern woke churches you shouldn't send kids to. One has to find a good one. Certainly, one will find a priest, that isn't a total disaster.
