The goal of cleaning is to achieve higher levels of detachment. Keep throwing things away and keeping your environment unlived in. Our ancestors did this because for most of human history people have had to get up and move at a moments notice while leaving very little evidence of their presence to avoid tracking. Cleaning your room evolved as a survival trait.

The lower your physical attachment to things, the stronger your memory has to be. Right now my worldly possessions boils down to 12 words that make up my Bitcoin seed phrase, a small bundle of clothes, and a small luggage full of things I require to survive with the expectation that most of that will probably need to be dispensed with as well in a real emergency

Thinking stability and civilization is persistent is the delusion most people suffer from. 99.999% of human life was spent foraging and hunting and running to and away from warbands and warlords. It's why in the past, even as recently as a century prior, the default thing to do was to leave your parents forever when reaching adulthood, as such personal attachments would prove a liability to efficiently living in the majority of human history.
