I was walking down the highway outside the city in the morning, and there was this very large dog who seemed aggressive barking at cars and running around the woods digging and smelling stuff.

There was not much traffic and the dog was crossing the street and coming to my side of pavement and going back, I was always ready to fight back if it charged because I didn't know its intentions. A bit terrifying because there were 0 people at that location.

But after a while I noticed that the dog would walk 50m and stop and wait for me to come near it and keep walking. It would otherwise ignore me, and I didn't even try to interact with it. Why did that happen?

In primary school I used to play with the cats with my friend before we had to walk to some after class center thing
