went to the shops this morning and the man behind me asked the homeless guy sitting out front what he wanted to drink and then bought him a fanta

it's selfish behaviour - making life worse for everyone else by encouraging the behaviour of harassing shoppers with requests and sad puppy eyes so he can feel good about himself for a minute for being "charitable"

exactly, and even if we were to pretend that wasn't true, you are providing the local council/authority with an excuse to evade their societal obligations because the "community is already helping out", so they can spend their tax payer funded budget on diversity parties instead
