Who here was raised catholic?

I wonder if my life would've turned out better or worse, if I had been raised in the catholic faith.

I don't mean nominally catholic, but weekly church attendance, regular confessions, etc...

I believe the solution to the sexual problems of our time is a strong turn towards religion.

We need strong church communities.

probably would have turned out worse from all the stress rotting you inside in regards to your own humanity.

if you walk around thinking there is inherently something wrong with you on a spiritual level i cant imagine id be any good for a developing child. not to mention the constant judgement from the surrounding communities and pressure to comply.

Protestant Christianity is more strongly based on guilt than catholicism. It was Luther, who believed in total depravity. It doesn't appear that way, because protestantism is fully watered down now.

Catholicism offers confession and forgiveness. It also offers a community, while protestantism offers individualism.

on the whole, catholicism is far more watered down now compared to protestantism

and one of luther's motivations for criticising the RCC was the intense guilt he experienced as a result of the RCC's doctrines (which he knew better than most, as he was an augistinian friar), which caused him to spend up to six hours a day in confession. how do you think they were able to scam so many people for indulgences at that time?
