Sentience refers to the capacity to have subjective experiences, feelings, and perceptions. It typically involves awareness and the ability to experience sensations such as pain, pleasure, and emotions. Sentient beings can reflect on their experiences and respond to their environment in ways that suggest a degree of consciousness and understanding. This concept is often discussed in relation to animals, ethics, and the philosophical implications of consciousness.
