Economy is bad here, Election Season
#1
Hi guys, hope you guys are doing good

The current situation here in India is terrible. The Job market is horrible, people are losing jobs, layoffs are rampant. I personally know quite a lot of people who lost jobs as well as struggling to get jobs.

Inflation is rampant, things are so expensive in India for the average person, you could survive on 30K INR in a city before but not anymore. It is literally not even enough to make ends meet.

The situation is so bad that, the toughest college to get into in India -- IIT Bombay has 36% unplaced graduating students. Colleges which usually have high placements, including IIT Bombay, with placements such as 240k USD from Jane Street, are literally having lots of students with no prospects. One very good college in the North had 50% students unplaced and the rest 50% were terrible so-so.

Its election season here in India. Currently the ruling party is BJP.
They're a good corrupt government Which honestly screwed over the economy and made it terribly awful. They are to be blamed for the economic crisis. As I've mentioned in my past posts time and time again, India is effectively two parts -- North India and South India, and North India is a BJP majority region, and BJP has no foothold over South Indian state governments and people.

This has all to do with people in the North prioritizing religious chauvinism over hard facts such as economic growth. Your average 23yo in North India is unemployed, has no certainity that he will get a job in the future, doesnt even have proper living conditions and with a terrible inflated prices for his everyday needs, but will unequivocally support BJP because he thinks BJP is saving his religion. Such is the mentality.
A Bloomberg article goes into more depth on this, I strongly recommend reading it if you want to know more about the political scene here: https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/features/2024-04-07/india-elections-progressive-south-is-rejecting-modi

I'm honestly very frustrated and disappointed really. The future doesn't look all that good. India will become an authoritative dictatorship with huge wealth income gaps and no level playing fields. It is so sad to see people reject their own reality and situations over some irrational ideas and ideologies.

The only thing that has been keeping me going has been work, I've been working a lot lately, both in the lab and on a startup idea related to payments. Despite this, the shadows of the my beloved not having a stable situation just keeps me mundane. we'll see how it goes.

India should reduce its population to half of what it is now if they want to solve their economy issues. As large as their country is, it's massively overpopulated. If Modi was sentient he would enforce 1 child policy like China.

India is a free democracy not a one party ruled country.

The population isn’t the issue but rather the people themselves, like I mentioned, they’re hardcore about caste and religion. Even the ones who don’t care about religion and care about the economy are deeply vested in caste and that is just destroying India. Seriously you wouldn’t understand this fully unless you’re Indian. Imagine the same people just labelling each other as part of different groups and playing nepotism and mass spread discrimination on a global scale for more than 3500 years.
It is too fucked.

And to make it absolutely worse, people continue to make it worse especially with BJP coming in and being unlawful and corrupt. They kill people based on caste, do honour killings, treat people worse than animals, stop underprivileged and lower castes from accessing education, stopping the access to credit, and everything terrible under the sun, just because of caste chauvinism.

It’s beyond mad bro, India is not developing not because India lacks talented people — not at all, India is not developing because there would be no provision for a casteist society (absolute hindu society) with the current definition of development. That’s why they’re pumping money into startup’s that mimic the caste hierarchy and also guess who owns these companies and is funding them? That’s right, the corrupt BJP and caste chauvinists and hindu extremists
