ww2 had nothing do with race/ethnicity/religion/subhumanity vs supremacy; that was just the approximation most processable for those who needed to be radicalized, militarized and then used as cannon fodder - the plebs, otherwise muslims (and blacks regardless of religion) would have been just as persecuted
it was all about money and power, and collective identities were labelled as good or bad primarily and almost exclusively based on how much they controlled and owned
i have a grandgrandfather who was sentenced to death by a communist military "court" for being a major in the nazi-collaborationist forces and a grandfather who was in prison for refusing to serve in the fascist army - guess which of them was white and nominally catholic, and which had the pedigree of the worst ISIL's slaughterers
