Does anyone know people that always need music to be playing in the background and always need sounds blasting in their head? 

these people have no internal peace in their lives so they need constant sensory experience

I find this is mainly stupid people

thoughts on this phenomenon?

probably. normies do it a lot as well. 

but other people think they are special for listening to music because they think it means that they can appreciate things on a deeper level. which I don't think is true.

Pretty much, they have nothing going on in their head so they feel terribly empty without either: a tv blaring, a loud group of fellow NTz screaming down their ears, or Spotify premium on max volume.

I haven't listened to music in months. When I do, it always feels good to turn it off and be back to silence again. I'm pretty sure I get more enjoyment out of the search for new music, rather than listening to the music itself.

I'd imagine more introverted/autistic/thoughtful people get sensory overload from music and need silence to focus on their thoughts.
