I'm trying to think what would they do/say in X instance, and my mind is totally blank like those were foreign people to me.

For example, my grandfather died when I was 18 and we were close but I can't think of a single conversation we've had. Same for close friends I had in highschool, we'd spend every evening together but I can't recall the slightest thing about them.

I've been living life on idle mode, my brain has been sitting around turned off until now, and these are the results.

its even worse for me, memories dont even exist like how people remembered the blonde whore in twin peaks for example, I have some vague idea about x event happening with x person but nothing beyond a 1 ms flash.  If someone who I spent 6 years with in School or something turned up dead, I would just go "oh damn" and then nothing. At this point the only people I have any feelings towards for good or worse would be my parents since Ive spent such a long time in their proximity, and its definitely karmic identification/attachment rather than anything actually substantive imo. I still get dreams about scenarios or situations in school but its almost like I use them as puppets for whtever fucked up shit my mind throws up in terms of stuff simmering from subconscious , for eg. the people would be the same /recognisable but the scenario would be something totally alien to anything that happened irl. Not quite memento tier but id say 99 percent of stuff has been lost and conscious recollection would be rather impossible. its not even like memorable shit didnt happen but Id say remember like 1 percent of the event and the other 99 would be something I fill in the gaps with. I dont even remember my school staircases if I try to remember it consciously, its some half grey silent hill esque imagery but 80 percent of my dreams involve traversing these places and underdoing some funny encounters lol. I think my neurogenesis is fucked, need to inject cerebrolysin.

true, memories are not something inside a box, theres no direct access to a frame of a spacetime, at least not within us, but there is active reconstruction to be made upon re-membrance
