history needs a source, on a source, that is sourced on a source, that is... and it goes, like this, forever

it's the most fake thing ever

it's fascinating how we choose to believe some things that are probably bullshit because we want to, but then go to lengths to deny stuff that's probably true

i have a fundamental hatred of humans

losers mentality yeah

so what

A sentient person should be able to distinct what should be taken at face value and what not. Sometimes in historical discussions it gets to a point where one side is refusing to adhere to basic logic and is bringing up conspiracy theories so they have as many chances grasping any of your arguments as the next lifeless object in the room.

when i tell people something, or something unusual happens, they usually bring it up later on. and, not surprisingly, it's always an altered or distorted versions of what happened.

now apply it to the entirety of history, what do you have, and think what does happen to the actual version of the history when there's profit involved if x (altered) version of it is taught instead

it's not about being a conspiracy theorist, it's more of information exhaustion

I imagine the science regarding sourcing goes far beyond quoting information as it was received from a testimony. There should be methods like cross-examination, propagation of error, historical reenactment and so on to pinpoint accuracy of an information. Of course, testimonies are not the only form of historical sources so there's no need to make this about history.
