The disabled junkie who wrote 'Requiem for a dream' married 3 times and had 4 children - Dreckssau - 22-06-2026

According to Wikipedia, the guy spent most of his 20's bedridden, with parts of his lungs removed. He was frail, on disability and later became a serious junkie.

During that time, he married and had two children, long before he was famous. He remarried two times.

I have some hangup about the handicapped

Namely, while normal people would say "Good for him, that he still did something great, despite being in a wheelchair," I always think less of them.

Probably the only thing this guy had going for him was extreme low inhibition.

Most high achieving disabled people succeed because of the disability, not despite.

It's one of the worst things about flying business. Right in front of you, airport staff fiddle with wheelchairs

I don't think so. The kind of profile he had is still associated with high fertility in today's world.

Some people definitely have a certain allure. In today's era I think he would be an online gambling steamer
