What is the point of trying to 'outsmart' people for no reason? - Dreckssau - 28-05-2026

If you wanna convince a dumb person to do dumb things, if you are a conman, it makes sense to present yourself as smarter than you are.
But let's say, you encounter someone you recognize as smarter than you are (which takes some skill already), even if only in a particular area. (A 100 IQ plumber with years of experience will know more about plumming than a genius with no interest in the trade)
Why would you still wanna convince such a person you are smarter than them, instead of learning from them or getting them on your side?
Either you are too dumb to see that the person is smarter or you have too much pride and act based on emotions.
