Just saw Blue Moon in theaters - I Already Know I'm Ugly - 24-10-2025

Just me and some Hawaiian shirt clad incel in the theater.

Honestly, I didn’t enjoy this experience one bit.

The main character is an old, severely balding lyricist with homosexual tendencies who is embittered by the success of his former partner’s musical and enamored with an intellectual college slut from Yale who makes him feel special.
Nearly the entire movie takes place in a bar, with the main character flitting between self-obsessed rants, cringe pretentious jester maxxing for the people around him(which most other characters seem only vaguely interested in at best) and sentimental speeches about this college girl he’s met and everything their relationship means to him. This continues on for what feels like hours until his partner comes out after the musical finishes. The manlet, fueled by narcissism and alcohol, then proceeds to beg for his former partner’s attention, insulting him and his work(which he ironically calls too sentimental) and asks him to work with him again, pitching an idea for a musical that makes fun of the themes of his partner’s musical while also having a self insert for himself as a man who is an “explorer” who is captivated by a woman half his age who makes him realize everything he does is for a woman like her. His partner is annoying by the cringe manlet and desperately tries to escape, and when he does the manlet is left alone.
The manlet speaks to the college girl and they eventually retreat to a private office to discuss how she lost her virginity. She tells him that the Chad doesn't care for her at all, and fucked her but won’t return her calls, and despite this she would drive 30 hours for him if he called her back, because she “loves him”. The manlet is nearly brought to tears by this tale of cuckoldry, and asks if she ever loved him, to which she responds “not in that way”.
The film ends with him introducing her to his partner, and she leaves with his partner to “talk business” with our manlet being left in the bar to further harass the staff.

This movie was a piece of shit.
It wasn’t visually interesting.
There wasn’t any interesting theme I picked up on.
It was so insanely dialogue and reference heavy that my eyes began to glaze over within the first 30 minutes.

Would not fucking recommend.

Still it was nice to go to the cinema

That said I caught some trailers that piqued my interest. “Rental Family” with Brendan Fraser actually seemed interesting, and while “Regretting You” seems like teeny girl slop, it also seems like something that would keep my attention and allow me to fantasize about a life where I’m an attractive white teenager.

I was thinking of seeing Bugonia as well even though I have 0 clue what it’s about
The Frankenstein movie also seemed interesting.
Believe it or not I also haven’t seen One Battle After Another
kinda feel obligated too, so I might do so before work tomorrow

Told myself I was gonna see “Honey, Don’t” too in theaters for this same reason but I didn’t end up doing so. Doesn’t seem liked I missed much.
I feel like she still does a lot of bullshit roles in bullshit movies, but she’s really a good actress when she’s in the spotlight. And man, is she gorgeous. I don’t think there are many women in the world who make me feel the way she does(perhaps Megi Prendi from London is the most notable example of a woman who does)

i am going to watch the Frankenstein movie, saw the trailer in august
note that the director is averse to the very thing that hes going to give life in cinema
meaning he has a fatigue that we all have at this point, of things that are fake and gay

I also enjoyed blade runner 2049 and did like Ana de Armas in that. I haven’t actually seen much with her in it though.
I think I gained roughly equal enjoyment from both films(in fact, maybe I even liked 2049 more), but I don’t feel like I’m in a position to say which was better, if any.

I think there is just an overarching theme of films being made solely as a product rather than being made as a work of love now. I can understand using digital methods on occasion for certain things, but it almost seems like a lot of the soul has just been left out of 99% of what gets released now. This applies even to the live action ones without any/minimal digital effects.

*stares at you blankly with the most downgrown and recessed face in hollywood history*

it offers the dumbest most pedestrian and unimaginative explanations for the enigmatic aspects of the first movie. just a completely pointless and unnecessary sequel that resolves nothing from the first film, doesn't add anything new and just shows us old dudes ambling around bow legged and in wheelchairs.
