the misery of being an enlisted recruit - thesupremegentleman - 28-09-2025 ur gonna be sweeping the floor and cleaning ur room 6 times over before its accepted and u can finally eat breakfast. u go to breakfast and realize the mess hall already closed, because u spent so much time cleaning ur room and nobody told you that breakfast was over long ago. So you begin to walk back and realize ur already late to reveille, and u are met with ur entire troop in plank positions in front of your barracks. the commander shouts at you for being late and says that your entire troop has been forced to do planks for as long as youve been slacking off. Your troop is then forced to run to the mess hall and back all day, carrying 28 kilo backpacks. Being weaker and lacking nutrition, youre among the first to buckle. The commander sees u falling behind and immediately shouts that everyone is gonna be doing an extra 30 laps because of that. once end of military order is signaled at 8pm, everyone goes back to their rooms totally beat. You feel ashamed and want to hide away, but your only space to be is your barracks room shared with 10 other people. Your head is shaven bald, your uniform is too big and youre totally beat. this is when you begin to understand what its like. u feel the glares of others on u and hear the screams of karen archetype women from other rooms. u try to sleep but 7 of your roommates are snoring and one is on his phone playing clash royale at max volume. the next day, everyone is frantically cleaning their rooms and organizing their closets in order to get an accepted room inspection. Your room actually manages to pass and u go to eat breakfast with your only friend. At reveille, inspecting officers enter your barracks while your troop stands posted up outside. An officer steps outside with a rifle in hand and reads out the id number. Its your friends rifle. Because he forgot to lock his locker, everyone is forced to crawl around in the mud the entire day. you can only feel relief at the thought of him being the next target of utter hate RE: the misery of being an enlisted recruit - sinn - 28-09-2025 fedposting |
