just found out i m in the same situation as you, kath - Altruist - 21-09-2025

well not exactly the same because it's my doctorate, but academic year just started and i realized i have 18 months to get the one i m currently enrolled ( Huh ) in done

as retarded as i am, i signed up for it a couple of years ago and then just kept fantasizing about it, i guess, writing itself while i'm listening to the godfather soundtrack/watching gwh highlights and shitposting here high on pills and alcohol Giggle

got slapped with a similar change in regulations as you when i checked the uni e-mail yesterday

holy cringe. now my options are:
1. giving up on it after investing so much time and effort in it
2. quitting my job and focusing on the dissertation at home, which ALWAYS results in me rotting like a maniac and not even showering for weeks, while having the 3k posts on incel forums : 2 pages of author text ratio
3. keeping my job and then dedicating 2-3 hours to research when i come home from work, completely exhausted. for at least a year. long hours on weekends included

i'd give up on it in your place tbh

you are already set, don't need it

many people go for phd in their 40s, it's never too late to try again

but it's the one thing that keeps me going, that's the issue. you have to have that one "S tier" goal, and just repeating the same shit over and over at work aint it

of course, i can do this completely independently anyway, but there are reasons (formal, mostly) why i want it to be registered "in the system"

Keep the job, quit forum instead to focus on it

we both know this is not happening in this universe

obviously, a rational person would just use it in moderation, but i'm too far gone for that

its not a requirement, most lawyers dont read a single book after passing the bar. a lot dont even check new laws, lmao, they just work with what they learned at uni and pick up on updates here and there if they really have to know about them

check sig, though
