fridge section dropped it, and I picked it up and handed it to her and she didn't say thank you let alone even turn around to acknowledge my existence

I remember making a thread about this on Lookism

I don't hold doors open for people anymore either because there's a 1% chance they won't say thank you

I also don't say hi to cashiers at gas stations because there's also a 1% chance they won't respond

And as with almost any thread I make, I just need to remind everyone that the framework of this discussion is built around the central hub of collective modern day insanity/mental illness which is Canada/USA, but mostly Canada

If I'm on a non-touristic Greek island with a permanent population of 100-something residents, of course I will be indiscriminately kind to everyone I cross paths with

I'm not a fan of small talk. In Amsterdam they have a weird desk right in the middle of the public tram.

So I enter but I was unsure if I got into the correct direction! I ask quickly the lady at the desk-office thingy,

"Dam is this way?? 👉🏻"

She says: "Good afternoon."

And I just walk away without a word.
