Pretty much exactly like that scene, you can pick them apart and explain their abhorent behaviour to them

I curse my father frequently in my mind for his inability to grasp anything and still feel self centered and narcissistic. Not that he is "low iq" but he will point something out and I will explain it and he will completely dismiss everything on zero basis at all. So i just don't bother with him, even if i don't mind him.
