There's a wonderful routine you can play: take a sheet of paper and say to your friend
"Crumple this, and I will then magically even it out, so that you can't even tell it was ever crumpled."
Let's suppose he does a half-assed effort to crumple the paper.
You tell him: "Cmon, put yourself into it."
He then proceeds to seriously crumple the whole sheet.
Next you tell him "OK now unfold it and hand it to me."
(he does that)
Finally you say: "Thanks. I need this to go to the bathroom."
