Of course, this lets the assumption that "Lawyer" is somehow a more legitimate or productive profession pass by unchallenged.
Relatively so, sure. A lawyer has clients and takes on cases, unlike whatever the fuck an academic in the humanities does - unless they can get a M.D on the side, allowing directly snip men's nuts off.
A lawyer is the same as a NEET. A parasite that subsists off knowing how to exploit the mechanics of 2000 year spaghetti code (Roman law, Greek philosophy). The primary distinction being that the lawyer is worse at it. Given that the NEET has to check in at the welfare office (and the psychiatrists office, more often than not) less often that the lawyer at his wage cube. The lawyer calls this a "firm" - perhaps attempting to insinuate that his position is more stable than government-mandated NEETbux
to be fair, having a sub-surgeon "real" job is a low status trait. Some lumpenproletarian who thinks he's better than someone in a comfortable position cuz you can actually, tangibly see the shit that goes down the ditch he dug.
