I got NEETshamed by a neighbor - kathisterima - 17-07-2024
my mom invited this guy who lives next to her and he kept talking about how all his children who are younger than me work jobs and asked me a bunch of questions like why I don't work and why im not finished with uni yet, whats my age etc etc, he just wanted to say Im neet bum and my mom insisted that I stay with them for entire visit.
they are trying to shame me into getting a job fk dat shiet

do you have a deadline by which you have to graduate in greece? whether regulated on the national, legislative level or by internal rules of universities

the rightwing government that got elected in 2019 passed a law about removing the students that have been studying past a set amount of years, but it's ultimately up to the committee of each university to remove them. I have 2 more years to pass that deadline, if I get removed I fully deserve it tbh.

something very similar happened here, that's why i asked. luckily for me, i was 2 exams + graduation thesis from graduating then. if it happened 2-3 years earlier, it would have affected me too

yeah. but mostly because i ve been working for law firms since i was 21. a million times more entertaining than just memorizing 1400-page textbooks. not to mention the effect of real money showing up on your bank account regularly

btw, the time you are allowed to study should be limited. it saves so many lives. currently, here, you can study 2 x the time regularly needed to graduate, so mostly 10 years. before, for law school at least, you could have been a student your entire life, as long as you were paying for it every year

I agree. My issue is I didnt go to any classes (and now I live elsewhere), and solving maths and physics problems is rly frickin hard to learn from studying books. Not impossible, just takes infinitely longer than if you were attending classes. So my case requires more time but ye no excuses.

yeah. it's better to know right away that you have an x number of years to finish it, or you're getting out. whether you fail due to laziness, incompetence, bad luck, other life events or a combo of those. without having this regulated, you only get a bunch of people wasting money and time year after year, only to eventually give up at 38 or so, and then spend the rest of their lives doing some random stuff for a living. not in anyone's interest.
