Honecker kommt von einem Amtsbesuch aus Bonn spätabends zurück nach Ostberlin. Die ganze Stadt ist hell erleuchtet, doch auf den Straßen ist kein Mensch zu sehen. Sämtliche Ministerien sind erleuchtet, aber wie ausgestorben. Er lässt sich von seinem Chauffeur durch die Stadt fahren keine Menschenseele. Schließlich kommt er an die Berliner Mauer, lässt sich ein Stück entlangfahren und findet endlich ein riesiges Loch darin. Daneben ein handgeschriebener Zettel: "Erich, du bist der Letzte, wenn Du rausgehst, mach' das Licht aus."

Too many things could go wrong, if they could.
Crime, cold approach, going outside, public speaking, starting conversation etc.
