I rejected a girl at work who likes me and made her cry - AlbanianLegend1994 - 24-06-2024 So there are two girls at work who like me, both Ukrainian, I've already made tons of threads on those. The one who started moving more aggressively and giving off more sexual energy lately I had to confront during work hours. I'm talking her making jokes like "I would love if you kidnapped me and drove me off somewhere..." while we're test driving cars, I'm talking her not respecting my personal space at work and getting a little too close to me, I'm talking her getting more touchy than usual, I'm talking her baiting me to invite her to go places during the weekend, like all the signs were there but I wanted to remain oblivious to them. I did reciprocate every now and then so I guess she got mixed signals from me, but none of it had any intention behind it. Anyway, last Thursday she goes to me, "These are the criteria I'm looking for in a guy..." and she's basically describing me, but I go to her, "so do you know anyone who fits this description?" And then she looks down and goes, "umm well there's a guy in BC, but we don't talk anymore..." then I go "that's it?" And then she blushed and was like, "I don't know what you want me to say... okay fine, yeah, I think you know..." and she gave me that look waiting to see if there's anything mutual on my end. Then I was like we can't talk about this right now, we're seeing each other this weekend for brunch anyway, so let's talk about it then. So we meet over the weekend but before we go to brunch we're just kinda walking and talking around and we find this perfect spot with picnic tables and lots of trees and we go to the most secluded one so we can start talking, we both knew where this was headed btw. One thing leads to another and I basically get her to confess that yeah, she does like me, and she wanted to know if the feeling was mutual. If I can tell you that the whole world shut down for me in that moment, all the chatter in my head, was just gone. This was no longer about narcissism, egotism, I've been in this position too many times. We're talking about a real person and their feelings and to have to break it to her that the feeling is not mutual, I knew I was going to make her cry, I have never not made a girl cry who was in this position. I probably said the wrong thing here, but I said, "I've had ambivalent feelings towards you, you're obviously gorgeous but we don't match personality-wise very well." Then she started crying and was like, "it would have been better if we never met today... yeah, I'm gorgeous but my personality sucks huh? Why can't any guy see me beyond my looks and appreciate who I am as a person?" Then she started justifying herself and was like "I come from a good family, I'm willing to work with you and through your problems..." She told me her mom told her to not get involved with me because she read a lot of trauma in my eyes (her mom isn't wrong). Then she goes to me, "my biggest thing with you is that you don't take initiative, I see you as a little boy at heart, but I'm willing to work with you and help you mature into a man. I could really see this working." In my head the whole time I'm thinking the irony of the way she lashed out at me when I mentioned her appearance when you have as a backdrop the contingency of her liking me solely on the basis of my physical appearance (obviously this is an exhausted topic at this point, I'm so desensitized to others telling me I look good, I've heard it thousands of times in unsolicited real-life contexts from complete strangers). And basically, all of what she's "feeling" for me would have fallen apart if I looked like someone else.
