"That act reaffirms my belief in humanity"

What level of fantasy-land delusion/retardation do you have to be on to think of the world in this way? It's the type of person that sees everything as "good" or "bad".

While we're on the subject, I had a miniature revelation this morning about people's mindsets. It was a deeper understanding of the idea that they place such a strong black-or-white moral judgement on everything - in the sense that everything needs their moral approval to be acceptable. For a split second, I existed in that world and experienced it.

It's just an internet meme phrase, people say it to look cool and no thought goes into it. If anything, it's exactly popular for the reason you pointed out, being an absurd hyperbole statement.

someone proclaiming 'this act makes me have faith in humanity again' shows they think everyone cares about the status of their belief

although usually its a fancy way of saying the act was good (which is then virtue praising/ signalling)
