went to renew my membership in the local library and they gave me a formular (not sure which word is used in English in this context) requiring so much details about just about every aspect of my life to fill before getting my membership through
and no, none of those (except my fucking name, age and ID) had any relevance to my member status
obviously, it came with those bs disclaimers about them only being allowed to (legally) use it for statistics and other trivialities, but that doesnt negate the fact that it's a huge overkill
this is just one recent example

When I was questioned in Germany, they asked "Why are you headed to Sweden?"
I said: "I'm curious, never been there."
He comes back 5 minutes later: "Do you hold permanent residency in Sweden?"

it lasts 1 year, and mine expired years ago since i was using my university's resources. and this obsession with filling forms is a recent development
