I think it's sense of ownership getting warped, there are extensive literature on corollary discharge
there's this doubt however by the way it presents itself in some cases, possession could be very real, but possession itself isn't circled down to the cheesy 'paranormal' - there are ideological possession too, not something related to the typical schizophrenic cases anyway
search Terry Davis, he's a good example of an 'intelligent schizo' so he's easier to understand than straight looney people that look as if they are trolling or those who are very creepy (which might be possession again won't rule it out)
