This is mathematically impossible, massive defaults from the moratorium and capitalism collapsing. Impossible to charge zero rent and taxes and then pay billions.

John Dennis, chair of the San Francisco Republican Party, said he that while reparations are in order, $5 million per individual is unattainable.

“This conversation we’re having in San Francisco is completely unserious. They just threw a number up, there’s no analysis,” Dennis said. “It seems ridiculous, and it also seems that this is the one city where it could possibly pass.”

One estimate figured the plan could cost the city, which has a 2022-2023 budget of $14 billion, roughly $50 billion.

A conservative analyst estimated that each non-Black family in the city would have to pay at least $600,000.
