I got it on release date and played a lot of zelda and fortnite on it
But it seems like in the last couple years it became the best selling console ever?

With the release of the Wii Nintendo started targeting more casual gamers. I played 100s and 100s of hours of MW3 and Black Ops on my Wii, but "real gamers" played it on their ps3 or xbox
Then when the Switch came out it became kind of a soyboy meme, maybe because of its gimmicky handheld mode and low hardware specs

From what i heard it's more popular than ever
Technically it's already past it's cycle which is usually ~5 years, but they come out with a new zelda game in may so they will continue milking it for a while i guess
