I just wanted to have people worship me, but see, that's the other thing. It had to be by proxy. It had to be contained. They couldn't get too familiar with me, because that would lead to contempt. I could never let them get too close because then the illusion that I am something would fall apart.

not that i necessarily relate, but i was thinking about posting a similar thread while being outside today

I actually somewhat related with what this person wrote, I think you might too, but not so much the worshiping part, just being genuinely "appreciated," someone interested in what is going on in your life, etc. Not even talking about a romantic relationship either, just from a human to human level. Because I just can't feel like anything I get irl is genuine, and ofc it's gotten worse in the 2020s
I don't think it's an aging thing either, there's something generationally that has changed. What was there before is just dead and gone
