i must admit i dont really understand how boats dont sink and how airplanes stay up - Altruist - 10-11-2022

i memorized it had something to do with density (boats) and engines (planes), but the concepts didnt really sink in

shouldn't a boat automatically sink if there is even a single barrel of drinking water of it?

why do planes have wings when they are static? is it just for decoration/to imitate birds? because you could get rid of them by putting engines on the sides (if my assumption that they are used to change direction is correct)

for real? water and air resistance. more surface area means more resistance thats why boats are shaped like that not flat and why u need wings to fly

both boats and planes are still comically minuscule compared to the size of seas/oceans and the sky

lol at thinking additional 20 m of metal changes that relation significantly

sorry if this offends you, but i can't help but notice science is starting to look sus af. just like religions did a couple of centuries ago. the bs mechanism is the same - adding more and more concepts whenever someone asks a novel question, until you end up with a mountain of assumptions that starts looking like mumbo jumbo to intelligent people

push your fist in a bag of rise, they don't let you because they can't open space for your fist. they keep yelling "yo wtf man, its crowded af down here, what u want here?!" if push harder some of them get on top of your hand saying " you asked for it bitch, there is no space down there".
same goes for water and boats.
and the airplanes have wings for better control of the air flow.

sounds like more abstract bullshit to me, tbh

so you are saying the motion/behavior of sea organisms (fish, dolphins, whales, algae etc) creates disturbance that stops objects on the surface from sinking to the bottom?

yeah, but moving objects in it (animals) or natural processes like earthquakes or storms exert force on it and make it behave in a certain way due to laws of mechanics, which i assume creates an environment to which engineers adapted their boats

everything matters

i'm delivering this thread somewhat humorously, but i'm not "trolling". if someone pointed a gun to my head and told me they'd kill me if i didn't explain this in a couple of sentences, that would be my end of my journey on this beautiful planet.
