gambling machines and lottery tickets in the states are almost always placed in every corner of low income neighborhoods but no where to be found in high income ones

that should tell you all you need to know abt the cycle of gambling, its like a hail mary for ppl who think they have no other means of social mobility

also the fact that most gen z gambles on sports now (the generation where a house and family is most out of reach than it ever has been)
