Cause it's an extreme disability, that comes with various problems and is hard to compensate for. Physical ugliness or learning disabilities in certain fields don't reach that level.

In the old days, people would keep a diary and whine in their diaries. Then, the diary would get burned, either by the person or after death. And in some rare cases (like Kafka), people would read your whinings after you've died.
