that's how it started with me too in 2017
-depression
-getting accustomed to skipping classes
-messed up sleeping schedule
-cut all ties with friends I had from school years
-become a serial liar to my family and acquaintances to cover up my failure
-postpone everything for next semester
-develop sever avoidance personality disorder, never leave my room until all food runs out and I become really hungry
covid was the only thing that interrupted this downfall spiral but now I'm back in the same spot again

It's easy to fall into depression once you realize how hopeless your pursuit for happiness is.
Even more so if you don't have a social support system and you are in this pursuit by yourself.
