i can explain in alchemical terms why white is seen as good or beautiful, while black and/or its greyscales towards it are not. its pretty much a purity or density thing, black is of the highest density or impurity, while white is of lowest density or purity. that is found in alchemical stages of putrefaction to purification. the nigredo to albedo is blackness towards whiteness or 'illumination'
