Outlook looks grim - n9wiff - 19-08-2025

I basically need a minimum of a 3.5 / 4 GPA when I start my degree to have a chance on not getting a job that feels like a slap in the face

So depressing

I think it's completely doable but I thought university was about going to parties and goofin' around? Renting out an apartment and I'll just be studying in it 24/7 basically

Sad

what u studying. also once u get ur first job or proper internship the gpa doesnt matter anymore. then that job experience does. >3.0 is also ok for any graduate studies

Computer Science and cyber security

The reason I mention that specific GPA is because I went with a university that offers us an internship with a partnering company in our third year.

The top-tier international companies typically filter out via a GPA requirement

The 2 companies I'm eyeing for has these

1st is really good for cyber-security specifically and only has a 3.3 or above requirement but has a rigorous screening progress ( multiple types of interviews and a cognitive test ). Worth it because it's with a very major financial institution.

The other one has a 3.5 requirement and is a more traditional SWE internship which I really don't wanna do but having the option would be nice since I know that most people fail at that first option.

I wanna get into cyber-security and work towards auditing

0, haven't even started my undergrads at all yet ( I start a few weeks )

I'll have a fresh start and some vision which is good but I'm kind of a lazy bum sometimes

Corporate slaving is not for everyone

Idk why you didn't pick a job where you will have your own private practice tbh, it's no brainer when your parents are well off

I plan on staying here, I just prefer the safety net of a laid out path

You'd earn a lot if you are a good engineer anyways ( like my Dad )

I'd rather have that corporate safety
